Nathan Porritt Not In Portugal, Plus EFA Index Update

29 04 2010

Nathan Porritt isn’t in Portugal as he never signed professional terms with the Liga Sagres side Belenenses.

Initial reports that Porritt had signed a contract were premature as he only had a trial with the team from Lisbon.

Nathan is currently back in the UK looking for a club after his contract with Middlesbrough, the club he had been at since the age of ten, was terminated by mutual consent.

Things might have worked out for the best for Porritt as Belenenses were relegated last weekend and will be playing in the second tier of Portuguese football next year.

Now time for some upkeep on the EFA Index to go with the Porritt update. Robbie Fowler has obviously changed teams from the North Queensland Fury to Perth Glory in Australia. Gary Martin is removed as he has returned to Middlesbrough from his Hungarian loan. Tony Stokes is off it because even though he is still technically a Újpest FC player his contract is on hold and he is planning to leave in the summer, if he changes his mind or moves to another foreign side he will go back on.

Also Jason Beardsley is belatedly taken off the Index. It turns out that he left Tampa Bay Rowdies, who are managed by Paul Dalglish (son of Kenny Dalglish), left a few weeks into his contract due to homesickness. To our knowledge Jason is still currently unattached and looking for a club.
