Jordan Stewart moves to Xanthi

Jordan Stewart has decided to make his first move abroad in his career as he has joined Greek side Skoda Xanthi.

Stewart was allowed to leave his former club Sheffield United by mutual consent less than a year after joining the Yorkshire club.

The 28 year old who has the ability to play at either left back or left wing made 23 appearances for the Blades last season, 15 of which were starts.

Jordan, who previously played for Leicester City, Watford and Derby County, had stated his desire to play football abroad in the pass in America. He especially expressed a desire to move to Los Angeles and play for LA Galaxy.

His former manager at Sheffield United Kevin Blackwell endorsed Jordan’s effort levels and wanted to wish him all the best on his departure to Super League Greece where he will come up against follow Englishman Matt Derbyshire at Olympiacos.

“Jordan was a 100% trier and I wish him well in this new part of his career,” stated Blackwell.

Stewart joins the club that Nathan Ellington was on loan at for the second half of last season. Ellington made ten appearances, scoring four goals which helped Xanthi achieve a 13th place finish and avoid relegation.
