MLS Move Delayed For Rodgers

Luke Rodgers is still struggling to obtain a Visa to allow him to work in the United States and join the New York Red Bulls.

It had previously been expected from all the sound bites the NY management and coaching staff had been giving that Luke’s move was just a matter of days away from completion.

However yesterday Red Bulls boss Hans Backe gave the first indication that things might take longer than that to allow Rodgers to feature in the MLS. Read the rest of this entry »





Update – Fowler Going For Glory

Robbie Fowler is set to give Perth Glory an answer on whether he will join the Australian side by the end of the week.

Glory owner Tony Stokes held talks with Fowler last week on a recent business visit to England about leaving his current side North Queensland Fury, who can no longer afford to pay his wages after the club fell into financial difficulties.

After an announcement earlier in the week by the FFA (Football Federation Australia) that all A-League teams can now have two marquee players (players that don’t count towards the salary cap), Perth now seem to be in a position to match his current Fury contract of $750,000 AUD (approx. £450,000) a season. Update – Luke Rodgers’ Move to New York

After New York Red Bulls 2-1 win last night over FC Dallas, General Manager Erik Soler was on MSG.com post game show and commented on how Luke Rodgers proposed move to the MLS and more particularly the Big Apple was progressing.

Luke’s move has been delayed over the last ten days because of difficulties in obtaining an American visa due to his criminal record. However, Soler now believes the transfer is finally coming close to completion. Read the rest of this entry »





Robbie Fowler in Talks with Perth Glory, Plus News on Andy Todd

Perth Glory have emerged as the new favourites in the race to sign Robbie Fowler after reports in the Australian press reveled that they have been in contact with the former Liverpool Legend.

The 35 year old striker who scored 128 goals in the English Premier League played last season at A-league side North Queensland Fury is up for grabs as the club ran into extreme financial difficulties only to be saved by Football Federation Australia. Every staff member at the club has had to have their contract renegotiated as a result of this, triggering a mini exodus from the club. The Fury couldn’t agree to match Fowler’s previous contract value of a reported $750,000 AUD (approx. £450,000)  per year, opening the door for other clubs to acquire him.
