Weekend Roundup 14-16th May

BSC Young Boys lost the title decider match 2-0 to Basel. Scott Sutter started his first game since coming back from injury but could only last 64 minutes in the match as Basel were crowned champions. Young Boys finish 2nd in the Super League and will play in the Europa League next season.

Maccabi Ahi Nazareth season ended disastrously as they lost 7-0 to Hapoel Ramat Gan. John Gregory’s side needed to win to stay up so will now be playing in the second tier of Israeli football next season. Nazareth finish bottom of the Relegation Playoff group.

Matt Derbyshire played up front as Olympiacos shared a 0-0 draw with Aris. Olympiacos are 2nd in the Champions League playoff group and will be looking to stay there to cut down on the amount of qualifying they will need to do for next season’s Europa League.

Gabala FC lost their final league game of the season 4-1 against the new league champions Inter Baku. Tony Adams’ new side finish the season in 6th in Premyer Liqası (bottom of the top half breakaway group).

AGF lost 3-0 to an OB side with Roy Carroll in goal, Mark Howard continued in central defence. The loss means AGF finish the season in 11th in SAS Ligaen and are relegated.

Real Zaragoza will be disappointed to draw 3-3 with Villarreal as they were 3-0 up after 35 minutes. Once again Jermaine Pennant wasn’t named in the squad which adds extra fuel to the rumours he will move on in the summer. Real Zaragoza finish the season in 14th in La Liga.

Bryan Robson’s Thailand side went down to a 4-0 defeat to South Africa in a friendly match against the World Cup hosts.

Interblock Ljubljana lost 1-0 at Maribor with Ben Gill playing in midfield. Interblock finish the season in 9th in PrvaLiga so will now face a relegation playoff over the next two weekends.

Ryan Smith played for Kansas City Wizards as they drew 2-2 Chicago Fire. Aiyegbusi and Rocastle weren’t involved for the Wizards. Kansas City are 5th in the Eastern Conference.

Balestier Khalsa lost 2-0 against Geylang with Daniel Hammond having his regular role in defence. Balestier Khalsa stay 9th in the S-League.

Ankaragücü drew their last game of the season 3-3 with Sivasspor. Ankaragücü finish 12th in Super Lig in Darius Vassell’s first season at the club.

Fram drew 2-2 at Breidablik as Sam Tillen started and Joe Tillen came on as a late substitute. Fram are 3rd in Úrvalsdeild after two games.

Colorado Rapids won 1-0 at DC United. Gary Smith’s team are 5th in the Western Conference.

MyPa won 2-0 at Lahti without Ben Webster featuring. Their first win of the season moves MyPa up to 9th in Veikkausliiga.

Ferencváros won 1-0 at DVTK. Anthony Elding and Sam Stockley played for FTC, Rohan Ricketts wasn’t involved for DVTK. Craig Short’s side are 6th in NB I and DVTK are already bottom and relegated.

Ancona lost 3-2 to Cittadella as Kris Thackray wasn’t involved. Ancona drop down to 12th in Serie B.

Elfsborg won 2-0 at GAIS in Sweden. James Keene played for Elfsborg while Calum Angus started at right back and Kyle Patterson came on at 68 minutes for GAIS. Elfsborg are 4th in Allsvenskan while GAIS slip to 9th.

TPS drew 2-2 with Inter Turku. Robert Milsom played a full match and Chris Cleaver came on after 65 minutes. TPS stay unbeaten and are 4th in Veikkausliiga.

Andy Iro was an unused sub for the second week in a row as Columbus Crew beat Chivas USA 1-0. Columbus are still to be beaten and are 2nd in the Eastern Conference.

Molde beat Haugesund 2-1 with Ben Amos once again being on the bench. Molde are 11th in Tippeligaen after twelve games.

LA Galaxy played out a 0-0 stalemate with Toronto FC. Los Angeles remain top and unbeaten in the Western Conference.

Vllaznia Shkodër won 1-0 at Apolonia Fier in Albania. Vllaznia are 5th in Kategoria Superiore with one game left in the season.
