Midweek Roundup 17-20th May

Olympiacos ended their season on a down note as they lost 2-1 at AEK. Matt Derbyshire wasn’t involved in the fixture. Olympiacos finish 4th in the Champions League playoff group meaning they will be in the second qualifying round of Europa League.

Valur drew 1-1 with IBV. Ian Jeffs played 71 minutes for Valur while Matt Garner was joined in the IBV defence by new signing James Hurst who has come in from Portsmouth.

Valur played twice this midweek, losing 2-0 to visiting Breidablik in their second fixture. Once again Jeffs started this one, playing 76 minutes this time. Valur are 10th in Úrvalsdeild.

IBV also had two games but had a better result as they beat Hafnarfjordur 3-2. Both Garner and Hurst played full games. IBV move up to 8th in Úrvalsdeild with the two results, making up for losing their first league game last week.

Ferencváros won 2-0 against Lombard Papa. Anthony Elding got the opening goal of the game scoring an easy finish due to being in the right place at the right time after a knock down from a corner. Sam Stockley and Paul Shaw both play a part in the match. Craig Short’s men climb to 6th in NB I with the final game of the Hungarian season happening this weekend.

Elfsborg won 2-0 at Degerfors in their first game of this year’s Svenska Cupen.

MyPa won 2-1 at Lahti in their first game in this season’s Suomen Cup.

AIK got an important 4-1 win over Åtvidabergs in which Kenny Pavey played the full game. The win pushes AIK up to 14th in Allsvenskan.

Fram beat Grindavik 2-0 with Sam Tillen starting and Joe Tillen coming on in the second half. After three games Fram are 2nd in Úrvalsdeild.

Vllaznia Shkodër lost their final league game of the season 2-0 to Teuta. Vllaznia finish the season in 6th place in Kategoria Superiore.

Molde emerged victorious in their visit to Strindheim, winning 4-2 and advancing into the next round of the NM Cupen. Ben Amos was back in the Molde side after having a run on the bench.

DVTK got a good 2-2 draw at Kaposvar, Rohan Ricketts wasn’t involved. DVTK are already confirmed as finishing bottom of NB I.
