Jordan Stewart moves to Xanthi

Jordan Stewart has decided to make his first move abroad in his career as he has joined Greek side Skoda Xanthi.

Stewart was allowed to leave his former club Sheffield United by mutual consent less than a year after joining the Yorkshire club.

The 28 year old who has the ability to play at either left back or left wing made 23 appearances for the Blades last season, 15 of which were starts.

Jordan, who previously played for Leicester City, Watford and Derby County, had stated his desire to play football abroad in the pass in America. He especially expressed a desire to move to Los Angeles and play for LA Galaxy. Read the rest of this entry »





New Weekend Roundup 18-20th June

The new Weekend Roundup for 18-20th June has now been published. The notable points of the weekend were:

  • Matt Garner and James Hurst played but couldn’t prevent ÍBV losing
  • TPS got a needed win to climb into the top half of Veikkausliiga

New Midweek Roundup 14-17th June – Video Highlights

The Midweek Roundup for 14-17 June is now up in the Roundups section. Sorry for the delay but we were waiting on some video and as their were two English goalscorers in the clips I hope you will agree it was worth the wait. The highlights of last week were:

  • TPS won to go through to the final of the Suomen Cup
  • Sam Mantom scored as Haukar gained a good draw
  • Fram won to go top in Iceland
  • Ian Jeffs scored in a victory for Valur




Martin Bullock wins player of the year

Martin Bullock picked up two major gongs at the Waitakere United end of season awards in New Zealand.

The 35 year old former Barnsley player was went home with the main prize of the night, the Lotto Player of the Year award.

Bullock’s performances throughout the season where also recognised by his teammates as he also won the Players’ Player of the Year award. Read the rest of this entry »





John Curtis joins Gold Coast United

John Curtis have made the move to play football in Australia as he has joined Gold Coast United.

As previously reported at EFA, Curtis had been training with the Queensland side for a fortnight in May. At the end of stint he agreed personal terms before returning to England to arrange his move personally and a two week break after a full League Two season. Read the rest of this entry »





Ins & Outs of the EFA Index

To begin with Craig Short is out of the EFA Index as he left Ferencváros and became the new manager of Notts County. We would like to wish Craig all the best in the upcoming season and congratulate him on the 7th place finish he achieved with FTC in the Hungarian NB I last season.

Portsmouth youngster James Hurst has joined Matt Garner at Icelandic side ÍBV on loan. It is still unsure of the exact details of the loan, it is expect to be until the end of June but that isn’t confirmed. If anyone has any details please leave a comment below. Read the rest of this entry »

John Gregory embarks on a new Israeli challenge

John Gregory has been appointed the new manager of Israeli Premier League (Ligat Toto) side FC Ashdod on a three year contract.

Gregory had spent the last six months working at Maccabi Ahi Nazareth on a £67,000 a year contract.  The Arab club was relegated from the Israeli top flight on the last game on the season. This was still seen as a good result within the country however as the team was vastly adrift at the bottom of the league on John’s arrival in December.

Craig Short takes charge at Notts County

Craig Short has been announced as the new manager of League One side Notts County. Short had been manager of Hungarian side Ferencváros before being appointed the successor to Steve Cotterill.

The move represents a return to Meadow Lane as Craig played for the midlands club in the early stages of his playing career. He made 128 league appearances in three years for the Magpies before moving to Derby for £2.5 million in 1992.

Notts County go into League One as current champions of League Two but have financial troubles to deal with after the fallout of the Munto Finance reign as owners.
